The Koala Campaign for the NCT started in 2012 and ran until 2014.
Combining a dollar matching partnership with the GER (Great Eastern Ranges Initiative), we raise over $100,000 towards koala habitat protection which enabled over 1,000 hectares of koala habitat to be protected under covenant on private properties.
Coinciding with the first announcement of koalas as being threatened with extinction by the then Environment Minister, Tony Burke (above right), the campaign launched at Featherdale Wildlife Park along with Greg Maslen from Red Petal, Kate Smillie (Acting CEO), Kevin the Koala (and his handler) and Greg Beresford (NCT Landholder from Chillingham whose property protects koala habitat).
The campaign focussed on direct marketing appeal letters and social media (Facebook) as well as support from some businesses and major donors.
